StableFX

StableFX lets clients convert between their usd_stable and copco balances using the same FX Quote and Cross-Border Money Movement infrastructure used for fiat corridors.

Converting Between usd_stable and COPco

1. Request an FX Quote

Request a quote via the Create a FX Quote API using currency_pair: usd_stable/copco or currency_pair: copco/usd_stable.

Only type: static_quote is currently supported for this pair.

2. Execute the Conversion

Reference the quote id in the Create a Cross Border Money Movement API, along with the source and destination usd_stable/copco balances.

StableFX only operates between usd_stable and copco balances. Both source_id and destination_id must be one of these two balance types.

Key Terms

FX Quote: A priced, time-limited offer for a currency pair conversion.

Static Quote: A fixed-rate quote valid until it expires.

Cross-Border Money Movement: The object representing the executed conversion, referencing the quote used.

Conversion lifecycle

A StableFX conversion follows a simple lifecycle:

1. Request an FX Quote
Request a static_quote for the usd_stable/copco or copco/usd_stable pair.

2. Execute the conversion before the quote expires
Create a Cross Border Money Movement referencing the quote id, with both source_id and destination_id as usd_stable/copco balances.

3. The Money Movement is processed
Once created, the Money Movement starts in the initiated status. Converting into copco mints it on-chain; converting out of it burns it. The destination credit only posts once that operation is confirmed; a failed operation automatically reverses the source debit.

4. Wait for the final outcome and check the resulting transactions
Once completed, a cbmm_debit transaction on the source balance and a cbmm_credit transaction on the destination balance are generated.

5. Receive status updates
Money Movement status changes are communicated via Webhooks.

How to Get Started

Create both stablecoin balances

Both the usd_stable and copco balances must already exist before requesting a conversion. See Managing Stablecoin Balances & Wallets.

Fund the source balance

Ensure the source balance has sufficient funds before executing the conversion.

Execute promptly after quoting

Quotes are valid for a limited window — execute the conversion before it expires or request a new quote.

What to expect after using this API

Conversion is initiated

The Cross Border Money Movement starts in initiated status.

On-chain mint or burn is confirmed

Converting into copco mints COPco; converting out of copco burns it. The destination credit only posts once this operation is confirmed.

Transactions are generated

A cbmm_debit transaction on the source balance and a cbmm_credit transaction on the destination balance are created once the conversion completes.
