Managing Counterparties

The Counterparties API provides services to set up, maintain, and manage your counterparties. Counterparties are embedded destination objects that can be configured and stored for reuse when making money movements.
Counterparties represent external entities—such as individuals or businesses—that interact with the Cobre platform as senders or recipients of funds. They are a core component for initiating and receiving financial operations, with their available attributes and requirements varying depending on the geography.

Counterparties types#

For Payout#

Checking Account (cc): Counterparty that contains all the necessary information of a checking account."
Savings Account (ch): Counterparty that contains all the necessary information of a savings account.
Electronic deposit (dp): Counterparty that contains all the necessary information related to an electronic deposit transaction
Bre-B Key (breb_key): Counterparty that contains all the information required to perform a payout to a Bre-B key
Cobre Balance (cobre_balance): Counterparty that contains all the necessary information related to a cobre balance.

For Payin#

Request to Pay (r2p): Counterparty that contains all the necessary information needed for a request-to-pay.
Request to Pay Breb (r2p_breb) Counterparty that allows fewer mandatory fields to be created and is intended solely for use in the creation of r2p_breb movements.

NDOnly available for counterparties with financial institution 1507.
The identification type ND allows using an identification number also set as ND. This only applies to money movements with destination account with financial institution 1507 (Nequi)
For 1507 (Nequi) counterparties, when an identification type and number different from ND are provided, Nequi will perform a validation to ensure that the identification matches the account number.

Counterparty Idempotency#

The service verifies the existence of the counterparty before creation by ensuring it hasn't been created previously. This is accomplished by checking the idempotency through the concatenation of the following fields:

Before using this API#

When creating a Counterparty, use the correct type according to the region and the type of money movement
Use the correct counterparty type based on the region and the type of money movement you intend to perform, such as PayIn or PayOut, to ensure the operation is processed correctly. See the above section Counterparties types for more details.

Consider whether you need to reuse the counterparty
If you’re going to reuse the counterparty, it’s important to use an alias that allows you to identify it and match it with the information in your system. Additionally, the alias helps you find the counterparty more easily in the Cobre Portal.

The creation of a Counterparty is only a registration of the data in Cobre
When you create a Counterparty in Cobre, you are simply registering the information; at this stage, no verification is performed to check whether the submitted data is correct.
