Create a Generic Money Movement

Generic Money Movements let you send a payout to a beneficiary reached through SWIFT, SEPA, CIPS, or Fedwire rails — bank rails not tied to a specific country flow such as Colombia, Mexico, or USA. SWIFT, SEPA, and CIPS route international payouts; Fedwire routes USD payouts to US-domiciled bank accounts.

Unlike the Cross-Border Money Movement flow described above, a Generic Money Movement does not use an FX Quote: the funds you send are already in the currency you're paying out, and you fund a Global Cobre Balance directly.

To create a Generic Money Movement, follow the steps below:

🌍 Create a Generic Counterparty

Register the beneficiary as a Counterparty with type: generic, providing their identification, address, and payment routing details for the swift, sepa, cips, or fedwire rail.

💰 Fund the source Global Cobre Balance

Make sure the Global Cobre Balance you'll pay from has sufficient funds in the payout currency.

🔑 Create the Money Movement

Link the funded Global Cobre Balance as source_id and the Generic Counterparty as destination_id, using the Generic metadata variant described below.

Generic metadata

This metadata variant applies when:

The source_id references a Cobre Global Balance

The destination_id references a Counterparty whose type is generic

Field	Description
`description`	Description of the payout.
`category`	Field to indicate the category type associated with the Money Movement.

Both fields are required.

Lifecycle & status tracking

A Generic Money Movement follows the same Payout state machine as every other Money Movement (initiated → processing → completed / failed / rejected, with an optional pending_approval step when checker_approval is used).
